My painting is inspired by place, a creative response to my surroundings, whether close to home or on diverse travel experiences. My architectural background gives me an eye for cityscapes and interesting building forms. In Boulder, I find inspiration in town and in the mountain scenery of a hike, or right outside my door as a mountain lion passes with undulating movement. In ancient Prague, I painted over 100 cityscapes on location. An adorned Maasai warrior standing, proudly and fearlessly, spear in hand, on the plains of east Africa inspired a colorful response. Painting commissions for Historic Denver, Historic Boulder, the Brown Palace, Bolder Boulder and so many others have provided an opportunity to celebrate the architectural and cultural legacy that we all treasure. I attended Auburn University and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The mountainside home/studio that I designed is shared with Jonathan Adams, whose abstract work comes to life with his unique sense of color.
