Being outside with nature is a wonderful experience. It grounds me and centers me back to myself. It is free and organic and moves on its on accord. Clay allows me a new way to center with the earth wherever I am. The clay can be gentle and smooth while also being temperamental and rough like the ocean.
As an artist my work explores simple minimalist form that has energy. I experiment with combinations of clay bodies and glaze materials to uncover deep textures and fluid grain. The intricacy of making multiple tests, mistakes, and accidents bring brilliant and radical details to the surface. I aspire not to re-invent the wheel, but to take the parts already given to me and rearrange them to make my own new.
