I start by reviewing photos I have taken not so much about whether it is a good photo but more about how I feel looking back at the scene. I prepare my canvases with multiple layers of texture before I start my work. The texture is applied randomly and with a little bit of magic I can either incorporate this texture and allow it to surface or subdued with paint. I love color because color for me translates into a feeling. Composition and color help me achieve my final decisions.
