Claire Ibarra
Boulder, CO, USA
Claire has always been drawn to storytelling as a means of exploring and illuminating the human condition. Her artistic life began with writing fiction, but Claire found herself moving toward poetry as she strove to distill narratives to their bare and essential essence. It seems that photography was the next logical step in that process. Claire uses composite photography to create meaning and visual narratives. She has a particular fondness for the strange and stark beauty of landscapes. For her current series, she has explored multimedia techniques using her images with collage on canvas. Claire received an MFA in creative writing from Florida International University, where she also served as art director for Gulf Stream Magazine. Her artwork often appears alongside poetry and prose in literary magazines. Her work appeared most recently in Artemis Journal.
