When I came to Boulder from the Chicago area to attend CU I was gobsmacked by the transcendent luminosity of the mountains. I knew I was home. I grew up with artists and walls bathed in art so it was not a difficult decision to decide to take up landscape painting. In this high tech, split-second age, I find myself feeling fragmented so there is nothing more fulfilling than focusing on one thing---the canvas in front of me. Creating a painting is a lengthy, challenging process of trial and error and experimenting in order to find the right coloration and creative composition. When painting I am living in the moment. The process calms the nerves by de-cluttering the mind and letting the heart and hand become masters of the moment. Becoming a painter has been a life-affirming, totally enriching, disciplining and often mystifying endeavor.
